German foreign minister Ms Annalena Baerbock supporting lebanese sovereignty.
Ms Baerbock, who is member of the German green party, Bündnis 09/die Grünen, stated in her public statement prior to her visit to Beirut on Wednesday 19th March 2025: “ a long-term, sustainable solution is still required, which could be achieved through the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701 and which respects both Israeli security interests and Lebanon’s territorial integrity.“
While meeting with Ms Baerbock president Joseph Aoun of Lebanon repeated that that „Israel has rejected all the proposals made by Lebanon to leave the five [Lebanese] hills,“ the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported, citing Aoun. „Diplomatic efforts and negotiations are still ongoing to find a definitive solution to this issue,“ he added.
According to AFP, the German foreign minister affirmed „rejecting any permanent occupation‘ of Lebanese territory by Israel. „As Europeans, we reject any permanent occupation of Lebanese territory by Israeli troops, because Hezbollah will only use this as a further excuse for terrorist activities and its so-called ‚resistance'“
People in Lebanon should seize every opportunity of regional and international support to build a new reputation of a country willing to live in peace and provide a confortable and prosperous life to its citizens, only peace allows such targets to be achieved through economic development and steady creation of wealth.
